Jambox FM-1

a chord harp for the FM-1, in the browser: the same code the FM-1 runs

Turn your phone sideways for bigger controls.

Off. Sound starts when you switch it on.

Buttons

  • White keys strum, black keys pick the chord.
  • ENV held: minor chord. LFO held: 7th. Both: m7.
  • ARP chord hold: the chord keeps playing after you let go.
  • PLAY rhythm on / off. REC the chord sequence and its page: with the rhythm stopped, chord buttons write its steps; PLAY plays it. With REC held (shift-click it), the first eight chord buttons pick its track.
  • OCT− / OCT+ move the strings an octave.
  • Pages: HOME play (again: the melody), SEQ rhythm, FX sound, SEL chords (press a black key, then turn KNOB 1 and 2 to change it), GLO setup (three pages), REC the chord sequence (there OCT− / OCT+ give a step a melody, copy and paste it; OCT+ held takes it away; OCT− held records your own from the strings, OCT− again stops). EDIT steps through them.
  • SELECT tempo, ALGORITHM rhythm, PRESETS chord set, KNOB 1–4 the values on the screen. SAVE saves.

Mouse and touch

  • Drag a knob up or down, or use the scroll wheel over it.
  • Click or touch buttons and keys. Drag across the white keys to strum. Several fingers at once work on a touch screen.
  • Combinations with a mouse: Shift-click (or right-click) a button to hold it down, click again to let go.

Keyboard

  • Strum keys (white) 1–8: Q–I, 9–16: A–K. Chord keys (black) 1–11: 1–0, -.
  • Hold Shift (ENV) for a minor chord, / (LFO) for a 7th, both for an m7.
  • Space PLAY, Enter REC (chord sequence), Esc HOME, Z / X OCT− / OCT+.
  • ↑ ↓ turn SELECT.

Saving

SAVE keeps your chords and sound in this browser, as the FM-1 keeps them in its memory. Factory reset forgets them. It is the firmware, not a recording: what you hear is Jambox FM-1 running, at the FM-1's 44.1 kHz. The idea of running FM-1 firmware in the browser comes from Groove OS's emulator.
